D&D Today: Part 1

Gonna try and record the accounts of my weekly D&D sessions, from the view of my character.

The Journal of Gars Sithersay, Golden Guardinal of Garland's Guardians

Day 1

I keep this journal in the hopes that it's words will one day help another.

It has been 5 long years since I first joined the ranks of the Guardians. At first I had looked for my place in the world, possibly a way to restore if not my family's power and land, then our honour and self-respect. Even after all this time it is difficult to recall the events that led to our downfall, and I suspect it will be many years more before those words touches these pages. No, I will find no solace, but I have found something more than what I first sought.

The deeds and actions of those with the order are not just of those who would rid the world of evil, but of those who wish to do good in this world, uphold justice and bring all who take breath into the light. I would never have imagined that such valour and courage could exist, let alone in a mortal man. I have a focus in my life I never would have believed in before, and a direction I would never have before turned to. If I can contribute even a fraction of a fraction to this noble cause, then I feel I may be complete again.

That is not to say it will be easy, far from it! I have worked from dawn to dusk on more days than there are stars in the sky, and trained far into the night with them above me. I have helped to vanquish those who were beyond the smallest chance of redemption, and defended those with no means to defend themselves from those who would do them harm. It is through strict adherence to the Guardian code that I was able to acquire the services of one of the most remarkable creatures I have ever met.

It is required of all Guardians who have reached sufficient rank to partake in a quest of self realization. Stripped of all but a loincloth and the meagerest of provisions, one must go out into the wilderness and find an animal companion: one whom will be able to go with a man as they bring justice to the world. It took me weeks to find him, and what a creature he was to behold. An equine touched by the gods themselves, I could barely bring myself to feel worthy to look at him let alone approach. Once I had gone through the proper ritual for 3 days and 3 nights, I was able to take said stallion for my mount, and a grand mount he was. Stalos was the name I gave him and even though I have known him only a short time, I can sense all that he has ever experienced.

I greatly expect I will need the services of Stalos in the months to come as I have received my first official order since obtaining the status of Golden Guardinal. I am to meet up with a band of adventures who have been put to the task of negotiating with the Gnoll nation in regards to the new deal that had been made with the Kobolds that have been making an annoyance of themselves as of late. Even though the Gnolls are primitive, I have high hopes that we can reach an amiable agreement in short order.
