Ugh.

Ugh. Okay, so much for updating in a timely manner. WoW takes up way too much of a person's time. I've stopped playing for now, to try and save some money, but I'll probably take it up again once the Wrath of the Lich King is released.

So, now that I'm loose from Blizzard's ball and chain for a while, I have time for updates! Updates for things such as my opinion on games, or more Gars' Journals. I know I'm probably the last person who should "review" game, because I like most things. I'm not a critical person, I find it makes everything less fun to nitpick.
So, how to sum up the last 8 months or so in gaming...


Well, things have been quite on the Wii front for me. I've really really cut down on my game buying, so I haven't gotten any of the big games for it, like Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart... or really anything else for that matter. I do plan on getting them once the price drops, but that will be a while.

What HAS occupied my time has been the Xbox 360 that I picked up at the end of last year. It was a good deal, came with Forza Motorsport 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Guitar Hero 3. Since then I've picked up a few games as well, but more on those later.
I really like Xbox Live. Being able to download game demos really helps with deciding whether I want a game or not. I enjoyed the demo for BioShock so much that I went out and picked up a few days later. The Arcade games available are pretty good, I haven't played too many of them, but there are a lot I want to get. Achievements are great, especially when you want to do something else with a game after you've completed it. I'm not much for the multiplayer aspect, so many of my achievements will go... unachieved, however a select few games will likely garner my attention.
Well, that'll be it for now. I will really try to update more, but I won't make any promises. At the very least, the side bar will be updated with my current gaming. Oh, and more Gars' Journals. Not in the side bar though. On the main part of the... page.

Ha! It wasn't a month this time!

Another period of time later and here I am again. Let's see. Dirge of Cerebus just came out so I'll be picking that up in the upcoming months. Also picked up a couple of sweet games: Civilization IV: Warlords Darwinia Now, I know Warlords is only an expansion, but it adds lots of cool features to the game, such as having Great Generals which can give experience to your armies, a Great Wall that actually appears on the map, even being able to play as the barbarians. Who doesn't want to loot and plunder... You'll pay for this Captain Planet! Darwinia though, that is an amazing game! You are an observer in a virtual theme park which is populated by these little guys called Darwins. A virus invades the system and it's up to you to help them take back their territory but protect them from harm while you do. Part 2 of the World's Largest Dungeon and Cookies

So first thing's first. Apparently my blog uses cookies and I'm supposed to have an automatic notice about them to let you know if you're from Europe. I don't know how to make that work right now so I'll just let you know here that I have never changed any cookie gathering code or anything like that. I just post about game stuff and really don't care about cookie information and will never look at it. Okay, second session progress. It was well over a month ago and I barely remembered what happened. It was a lot of twists and turns through endless corridors. There was an ogre who was all frontin' at first but after getting thumped he backed down. Below is approximately the path the party took. I don't remember any traps but they were sure to have been funny.

My Favourite Style

So, I really like the Art Deco style. Don't know why, but I do. Games that use this however are even better. Two that come to mind are Bioshock and LA Noire . The former came out at the end of summer, 2007. The latter has yet to come out, but should be by end of 2009, and I hope it doesn't become vaporware . I remember when I first played Bioshock . I had just gotten my 360 and only had the couple of games that came with it. Marvel Ultimate Alliance didn't interest me at all, despite my love of Marvel, and Forza Motorsport 2 was a racing game that would have eventually required skills to master I wasn't willing to develop. I started going through all the demos and arcade games available and downloaded everything that even looked remotely interesting. I came across Bioshock and thought I'd give it a try.
