D&D Today: Part 2
The Journal of Gars Sithersay: Golden Guardinel of Garland's Guardians
Day 5
I met up with the adventuers I had been tasked to find a few hours ago and am currently keeping the last watch. I left the day after I received my orders and traveled along their more likely route towards Gnoll lands. Although my skills as a tracker are not as good as some, the trail of bodies they left in their wake simplified things greatly. I hope that I will be able to prevent more of this from happening for even though they may be of evil intent, no living thing should be prevented from walking in the light.
As dusk fell on this day I felt the need to push on into the night. I had been traveling for 2
days already and wanted to end this part of my journey. I soon heard the sound of a battle in
the distance. I urged Stalos forward and was soon able to see in the dim moonlight what surely
must be the ones I was looking for, onset by a gnollish squad.
My ideas of preventing further bloodshed were dashed as a battle field is no place for
diplomacy. The blood pumping through one's veins keeps cool heads from prevailing, and words
that what would normally be akin to peace fall on deaf ears. Forward I rode into the fray, my broadsword making short work of these intruders, my steed's hooves raising up, keeping the gnolls at bay. Soon all that remained were myself and five others, a few stray gnolls running off into the night.
I introduced myself, they did in turn, and I explained why I had been sent. They seemed relieved to have another hand, and one that could ease their pains as well, which I promptly did. As I was not as weary as they looked, I offered to keep watch the rest of the night which they
eagerly excepted. Their light snores are the only sounds I hear now, that, and the wind blowing through the leaves. I can't help but wonder what the upcoming days will bring, and hope that they are more peaceful than this one.
